Summertime can be pretty harsh on our skin so, I decided to do a little research and see what oils can help the skin to make us more comfortable from certain outdoor annoyances.
I decided to whip up a small batch of what I call my "Skin Soothing Blend". I chose Lavender, Purification and Copaiba for their amazing skin soothing properties. Lavender is known for it's ability to restore skin and has a scent that’s a wonderful blend of fresh, floral, clean, and calm. The name Lavender comes from the Latin verb "lavare," which means "to wash" and was an important part of bathing rituals in ancient Rome. It's calming skin soothing properties are world renowned. Copaiba is a must in this recipe. It is a product of steam distilling the gum resin tapped from trees in Brazil and known to contain many therapeutic properties while being very complex. Copaiba contains these constituents: Beta-caryophyllene, Daniellic acid, Alpha-copaene, Beta-bisabolene, Alpha-bergamotene. Copaiba essential oil is amazing for your skin. It can help make skin firmer and more elastic. Do a little research and see all it's amazing properties! Purification Oil is a blend of Citronella) oil, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Tea tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia), Lavandin, and Myrtle. It helps to soothe, cleanse and nourish the skin. I love that most of these oils come in the Premium Starter Bundle*! (*UPDATE - The New 2019 PSK no longer has Purification or Copaiba but they can be purchased separately)
Directions to make your own Skin Soothing Blend: In an empty 5ml bottle (I like to recycle my old YL bottles) or a small roller bottle put equal amounts of Lavender, Copaiba, and Purification. Maybe about 10 drops each. You could also make this in a 10 or 15 ML bottle or roller bottle and then just double or triple the recipe. Use this blend neat or add a little carrier oil if you use will be using a roller fitment. We haven't really been complaining much this summer since making and using this blend! We like to use it neat since it seems more effective for all those annoyances😉
